Discrete Dislocation Dynamics Simulation of a Steady State Persistent Slip Band of Fatigue Metals
Original language description
The proposed model simulates basic mechanisms of plastic deformation in a channel of a persistent slip band (PSB) in a steady state cycling. The PSB-walls are modeled as clusters of elongated edge dipolar loops. Dislocations gliding in the PSB-channel between the walls are represented by flexible curves. In the numerical simulations three types of mechanisms are considered: (i) generation of glide dislocations by bowing out from the walls, (ii) trapping of the segments of glide dislocations deposited atthe walls, (iii) encounters of glide dislocations which control their passing and annihilation.
