  • Original language description

    Solute breakthrough experiments on soil columns present useful and fast method to determine transport properties of soil. Instrument is designed for conducting infiltration experiments combined with breakthrough leaching experiments. The apparatus consists of multichannel infiltration head, peristaltic pump and data logger. The infiltration head is made of layered Plexiglas, where cutouts in two inner layers form system of 9 channels. Two independent systems of channels are constructed inside the disk.All channels of system begin in the central inlet. Ends of channels are evenly distributed. All channels in the system are of same pressure head length ensuring the same outlet outflow velocity. The outlets are provided with stainless steel L shaped jets, which injects water or tracer in ponding water. Pressure transducer installed in the infiltration head monitors water level bellow the disk and data logger controls the pumping rate using PID based code to maintain the water level.
