In the paper, the applicability of the FWD (Falling Weight Deflectometer) testing for determination of mechanical characteristics of subgrade soil and unbound base layers is analyzed. The pilot verification of FWD measurements prooved that FWD diagnostics is capable to evaluate overall pavement bearing capacity as well as bearing capacity of its subgrade and base layers
