    Squealing noise from urban rail transport

  • Original language description

    The squealing noise is generated by a tram riding through a curve having closed radius. This kind of noise has a high intensity and is very annoying for people living in the surroundings location where this phenomenon occurs. Measurements of squealing noise were made in Porto (Portugal) on urban rail system during the spring 2009. This paper presents the method of measurement of this noise and results from measurements which were made in Porto. Usually the squealing noise is not accounted in urban areasnoise maps and this paper also shows the possibility of noise mapping simulation of squealing noise using software Cadna/A. This paper compares three variants of noise simulation in software. Comparing this maps the large different in noise levels can be found. A correction method for squealing noise simulation was found and used for noise maps simulation in this paper.
