Utilization of high performance concrete in the design of sustainable building
Original language description
The possibility to construct subtile concrete load bearing structures increases the potential for the use of concrete also in energy efficient buildings. Utilization of optimized concrete structures represents a potential for increase of complex qualityof construction from the point of view of sustainable aspects. New composite high performance silicate materials could be used for construction of more strong, more durable and at the same time slender "shell" structures, enabling design with significantly reduced use of materials and leading to reduction of environmental impacts associated with the use of primary natural sources and with depositing and recycling of the structure at the end of its life cycle.
