Thermophysical measurements of porous materials are affected by their moisture content. The values of thermal conductivity, specific heat capacity and thermal diffusivity of wet materials can be several times higher as compared with the dry state. This may have serious effect on any thermal assessment of multi-layered systems of porous materials. Therefore, exact determination of moisture content in porous materials is very important also in thermophysics. In this paper, three different experimental approaches of TDR sensors placement into compact materials are analyzed and their applicability for laboratory and on site measurements are discussed.
