Embodied Energy Return of Solar Thermal System
Original language description
Currently, the energy consumption which is covered from renewable sources is increasing, and therefore evaluation of embodied energy is more and more important - especially in case of larger solar systems. The main task of this article is to calculate the return time of embodied energy and use this parameter to optimize the system. The paper deals with a solar thermal system in a residential building, where the thermal energy is used for preparation of hot service water. Return time is estimated from embodied energy in materials that were used for the production of all components. Operational energy of pumps during the year is concerned as well. The calculation is done hourly for every day during the whole year.
