Multiscale modeling of transport processes in masonry structures
Original language description
Durability of buildings is significantly influenced by damage process driven by moisture. High moisture level can cause metal corrosion, wood decay and other structure degradation. Consequently, studying the coupled heat and moisture transport behavior of building materials is essential to improving their performances. Masonry has a heterogeneous structure on macrolevel just like most of other building materials. Incorporation of heterogeneities into the description of materials is inevitable for realistic prediction of structural behavior. Therefore, the presented thesis addresses different approaches to the description of heterogeneities in materials, especially within the context of transport processes modeling.
