There is a high positive correlation among the level of public debt, the level of corruption and the shadow economy ratio in advanced economies. Using the example of the Czech Republic it is shown, that the corruption is very destructive to the economy and only by a sober estimation it is quantified how much money is lost in the budget. In 2008 it was about 360 billion CZK, which is 33,7% of state budget revenues.
