Analysis of a Fast Fourier Transform Based Method for Modeling of Heterogeneous Materials
Original language description
In this contribution, we present a new approach to accelerating the convergence of a FFT-based solver for numerical homogenization of complex periodic media proposed by Moulinec and Suquet. The approach relies on discretization of the governing integralequation by the trigonometric collocation method due to Vainikko, resulting in a linear system which can be efficiently solved using conjugate gradient methods. Computational experiments presented below confirm robustness of the algorithm with respect tosetting of internal parameters and a significant increase of the convergence rate for problems with high-contrast coefficients at a negligible overhead cost per iteration.
