A Numerical Approach to Imperfect Interfaces with Initial High Stiffness
Original language description
Our approach attempts to eliminate the well known problems in the modelling of interfaces with initial high stiffness. It is a rate-independent energybased model which uses the principles of isotropic damage mechanics to modelling of an interfacial damage evolution. A mixed-mode constitutive model with linear softening, based on the developments of Ortiz and Pandolfi, is implemented. The continuous formulation is converted to the time-incremental problem, which is subsequently discretized using the FETImethod. Finally, the resulting optimization problem is minimalized via the alternate minimization strategy due to Bourdin.
