Progress in sustainable stormwater management in the Czech Republic
Original language description
This paper deals with the process of implementing sustainable stormwater management in the Czech Republic. It describes the motivation behind this process (increasing urbanization and climate change), the situation before implementation, actions undertaken during the preparation of a national stormwater concept and the current status of implementation in new and existing development. Obstacles to implementation are also discussed. Experience from a pilot study of the city of Hradec Kralove is given as an example. The experience of the Czech Republic with sustainable stormwater implementation can serve as a useful example for other countries of the transition towards sustainability in stormwater management.
