Valdštejn Castle - stability of rock blocks
Original language description
Valdštejn Castle, situated not far from Turnov in North Bohemia, is built on several isolated groups of sandstone towers connected by individual castle structures and bridge constructions. Part of the outcrops do not retain their natural shape, but wereintentionally modified during stone quarrying for the construction of the castle or during the footing bottom treatment. During the time of the castle history, natural geodynamic phenomena have developed with predominantly unfavourable effects on the respective structures. For the castle complex, this represents certain prospects of destructive changes. For the future, the massif behaviour will have to be thoroughly studied, individual phenomena marked, mapped and decisions must be made on how to handlethem.
