    An open-pit coal mine in the Czech Republic is under reclamation which forms a large lake inside. One side-slope about 40 hectares is still not stable. The slope has two different parts. The upper one with a small inclination consists mainly of "virgin"ground not directly affected by mining. The lower part is a side slope formed by former stripping partly supported by an internal waste dump. A long anchored pile wall has been designed as a support of the upper part of the area. In the lower part a hugestabilisation embankment on the internal waste dump is under construction. The existing monitoring was extended in 2007 in order to prove efficiency of remedial measures. The embankment is instrumented and monitored with respect to its construction phases. Besides the control of the construction process, all gathered monitoring results are used for reverse analyses.
