Statistical comparison of shrinkage prediction models
Original language description
Concrete shrinkage develops internal tension stresses that can result in concrete cracking. The presence of cracks in concrete creates pathways that ease the access of aggressive agents, contributing to reduce concrete durability. Therefore, a reliable definition of concrete shrinkage strain is essential in the structural designing process. For practical reasons, construction designers tend to use empirical-based shrinkage prediction models. Nonetheless, results from these do not necessarily match experimental measurements. The existence of such differences was the motivation to develop the analysis presented in this work, which focuses in comparing results from experimental measurements and different shrinkage prediction models.
