Sediment and nutrient transport as a reaction to heavy rainfalls on small agricultural catchment
Original language description
Varieties of rainfall-runoff conceptual models are being used to estimate the small catchments hydrological responses to storm events. Realistic prediction of precipitation transformation into stream runoff is crucial for watershed management and soil erosion estimation. The interconnection between precipitation, runoff, soil erosion and nutrient transport is a very important topic recently. Sediment and nutrient transport from agricultural land into rivers and reservoirs is one of the major problems inthe Czech Republic. Our goal is the proper linkage between surface and subsurface processes that should help to uncover the principle of runoff generation and soil and nutrient transport throughout the vegetation season. A new experimental agriculture catchment, Nucice, has been recently established and equipped with meteorological station, measuring gauge, water sampler and turbidimeter to monitor rainfall runoff processes and to quantify sediment and nutrient transport during differen
