Study on measures to increase the capacity of protective structures on orlik dam.
Original language description
The article present a real-life application of stricter demands for dam safety in floods with a long return period. In the introductory part, design parameters of flood events are presented as they are treated in codes currently in force and compared with the requirements of the codes regulating the construction of numerous dams and reservoirs in the Czech Republic. The introductory part also discusses potential conceptual approaches aimed at increasing dam and reservoir safety in floods (i.e. dam protection or increasing the capacity of the dam cross section so that the required discharge may safety be transferred) and their potential combinations.
