Effect of type and amount of fibres on failure mode of fibre reinforced concrete in tension
Original language description
The paper deals with description of the failure mode and pattern of fibre reinforced elements loaded with axial tension and the relation of the failure mode and type and amount of fibres. There are general assumptions that fibre reinforced elements in tension have more cracks; however the crack width is lower and crack layout is more regular. The aim of the project was verification of the known effect and quantification of variances in particular types of fibre reinforced concrete (FRC). Sets of prism specimens with rebar reinforcement in the central axis were manufactured and subjected to tensile loading. Based on experiments the benefit of fibres dispersed in the cement matrix was quantified. The followed parameters were number, width and layout of cracks along the specimen and variance of results of particular sets with different types of fibre reinforced concretes (FRC). Simultaneously a numerical analysis of the investigated problematic was performed and results of both analyses w
