In this paper, we investigate how rainfall observations from telecommunication microwave links improve when the link is adjusted against different reference rainfall data from rain gauges or distrometers. Based on field data and numerical experiments weassess the performance of four different rainfall retrieval models, which require different levels of precipitation information.
