Assessment of sediment load of water bodies in the Czech Republic and its correspondence to goals of Water framework directive
Original language description
The task of four years lasting project was to select those of standing water bodies, which are endangered with eutrophication processes and then to assess proportion of this risk, caused by non-point pollution sources - namely by soil erosion and sediment transport. Together 58 large water reservoirse were selected and their catchment area covered nearly 50 % of the territory of the Czech Republic. Mathematical model WATEM/SEDEM has been used to determine soil erosion risk at agricultural land and to assess sediment transport into water bodies.
