The paper deals with a widely used branch of computer science which is called digital image processing and analysis. It is considered to be one of the most progressive branch of science in connection with using of electronic devices for acquiring the twodimensional digital signal. Although it is not obvious in a common life except for using of a digital cameras. The utilization can be found especially in machine industry such as control of quality. This brings us to the primary objective of the paper.One of possible application for civil engineering is shown and discussed as well as the nature of the digital image processing and analysis.
