In the production of fair-face elements is very popular, but aesthetic quality needs to withstand its lifespan. In the case of non-protected concrete surface, any failure is much more pronounced. An important parameter determining the durability of concrete is the quality of the surface layer, as it is directly exposed to the environment. In terms of durability properties, it is worth to monitor the parameters of the surface layers, particularly the transport processes. The paper presents the selected experimental methods for evaluation the quality of the surface layer of concrete aimed at monitoring the permeability of concrete, since concrete permeability is a property uniquely affecting durability of concrete.
