Telecommunication microwave links as a source of rainfall information for urban rainfall-runoff modelling
Original language description
Rainfall information with a high spatio-temporal resolution is crucial to accurately predict stormwater runoff in urban drainage systems. ). Commercial microwave links (MWL) are novel source of rainfall information which could bridge this gap. They operate at frequencies where the raindrops are dominant source of attenuation and the MWL network is dense, especially in urban areas. Thus, it is very interesting as a tool to improve urban hydrological applications. Results of our case study show, that MWLrainfall information can improve predictions of stormwater pipe flows compared to rain gauge precipitation measurements.
