Original language description
This contribution will refer to an unconventional investigation and documentation of heaps and dumps. The typical exploration is based on contact measurement which in large areas can be very slow, inaccurate or dangerous due to thermal active heaps, forexample. For this reason, the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV, recently called UAS - unmanned aerial systems) for low-cost and operating documentation seems to be very practical. UAV Mikrokopter was equipped with a calibrated camera for photogrammetrical documentation and subsequently with the thermal camera Optris ThermoImager TIM 160 with a USB port and small computer for data capture. This part describes opportunities of low-cost optical and thermal infrared data obtaining. The UAV method of acquisition combines benefits of close range and aerial photogrammetry. As a result of the classical photogrammetrical part of project, a high resolution orthophoto with an accuracy of 2-5 cm over small areas can be obtained.
