Determination of the relation between the content of used reclaimed asphalt material and deformation characteristics of asphalt concretes
Original language description
The objective of this paper is to summarize experimental findings of functionalities between the content of added reclaimed asphalt material (RAP) in asphalt mixtures of the AC (asphalt concrete) and HMAC (high modulus asphalt concrete) type, selected suitable bituminous binders (including the applicability of chemical additives) and performance characteristics describing the behavior of asphalt mixes in the range of high and low temperatures. The results of dynamic non-destructive stiffness measured ina temperature interval of 0-30°C, creep behavior at 40°C with the assessment of resistance to permanent deformation as well as the regular rutting test are presented here. Further, master curves for the complex dynamic modulus of the asphalt mixtures are determined and assessed. Finally, recommendations about acceptable contents of reclaimed asphalt material securing the minimum technical requirements of technical standards and sufficient asphalt mixture durability are formulated.
