Design of liner tray with distance screw connection in the narrow flange
Original language description
The research shows an experimental and numerical study on structural performance of cold-formed liner trays cladding system. In the described system, the outer sheeting is connected by distance screws to the narrow flanges of the liner tray profile. It allows additional thermal insulation between the liner tray and outer trapezoidal sheeting. This is beneficial to the thermal insulation and acoustics performance of the system. However the load-carrying resistance is reduced. The presented paper shows bending tests of the profiles when the narrow flange is in compression. The tests were used for an Abaqus FE model validation which is shown and commented. The results of the test were subsequently extended by a numerical parametric study which shows the influence of the connection to the bending resistance considering various factors including the bolt length, bolt spacing, liner tray height and thickness. A general design formula based on the existing EN 1993-1-3 standard is also given.
