    Evaluation of the non-homogenous subsoil by LAS simulation

    For the underground structures design engineers mostly use input parameters of the rocks and soils based on geotechnical survey. These parameters show considerable scatter, which is due to the properties of geological environment (which is usually not homogeneous) and inaccuracy of meas-urements in laboratory or field tests. In practice, often uncertainty in input parameters in deterministic calculations takes into account the use of safety factors (or partial safety factors). This process often leads to conservative results and may not reflect the actual behavior of the environment. The probabil-istic approach to the design of geotechnical problems takes into account the variability of input param-eters and loading and also better identify the risk ofa rock/soil mass behavior and a failure connected with the designed construction. The paper describes the basic simulation methods such as Monte Carlo and LHS (Latin Hypercube Sampling). The main focus is on the algorithm description of
