Design of Ultra High Performance Fibre Reinforced Concrete Mixture and its Behaviour under Impact Loading
Original language description
This paper describes a formulation of Ultra High Performance Fibre Reinforced Concrete (UHPFRC) mixture and its response to quasi-static and dynamic impact loading. UHPFRC represents a class of cementitious composites whose stress-strain response in tension undergoes strain hardening accompanied by multiple cracking, leading to a high strain prior to failure. Behaviour of UHPFRC mixture with 2% of fibresby volume is compared with specimens made of normal strength concrete (NSC) and fibre reinforced concrete (FRC). In addition, the formulation process of UHPFRC without using special curing or mixing methods is described in the paper. The main properties assessed throughoutthe experimental work are compressive, flexural and direct tensile strength as well as response of tested concretes to impact flexural loading. A falling weight drop-tower test was used to produce the impact loading. The compressive strength of the resulting UHPFRC mixtures exceeded 130 MPa and direct tensile strength
