The importance of MRT for assessment of indoor environmental quality in buildings
Original language description
Indoor environmental quality in the spaces with human occupancy depends on a variety of factors. Some of these factors cannot be controlled by the designer, such as activity level and clothing, as well as individual physiological and perceptual differences. However, some very crucial factors can be controlled, such as air temperature, air velocity, humidity and an often neglected, but very important factor, mean radiant temperature. Acceptable thermal environmental conditions are defined in standards and regulations for evaluation of thermal comfort, such as ČSN EN ISO 7730, ASHRAE standard 55 or Czech government regulation 361/2007 Sb.. The most frequently used criteria for the assessment of thermal comfort are predicted mean vote (PMV), predicted percentage of dissatisfied occupants (PPD) and operative temperature, each of which is a function of the mean radiant temperature (MRT). The mean radiant temperature (MRT) is thus a key variable in making thermal calculations for the human b
