    Numerical Model of Corium-concrete Interaction

  • Original language description

    Safety of nuclear power plants is a frequently discussed topic. One of the most severe accidents is core meltdown, when corium is composed of fuel and structural materials of the reactor vessel. This paper describes a simple method for assessment of theablation depth of a thick concrete slab when corium is poured on its surface. The finite element method is used for calculation of temperature evolution and mixing of molten materials. The fuzzy logic is used for description of behavior of corium as it interacts with melting concrete.
