    Advanced technologies applied to optimize the design of cooling towers

  • Original language description

    This paper aims to present research developments on optimization of cooling tower structures. The optimization focuses on financial saving of construction materials and simplification of structural design. For that, various solutions are taken into account. In particular, they involve a) adjusting the diagonal reinforcement, b) post-tensioning the bottom reinforcement, and c) changing the curvature of the cooling tower. Note that the solutions discussed in this paper may change since they are part of anongoing PhD research.
