Constitutive model of tensile and shear fracture in timber
Original language description
A two-dimensional homogeneous orthotropic constitutive model of tensile and shear fracture in timber has been proposed by the authors. The model applies the following rules for timber response: (a) pre-cracking response: elastic orthotropic behavior, (b)crack initiation: failure criterion accounts for orthotropy and distinguishes formation of a crack along or across the grain, (c) post-cracking response: softening modeled by the fixed smeared crack approach with regard to orthotropy. Validation of thecohesive law for the crack along the grain is demontrated on finite element calculation of compact tension shear (CTS) tests.
