Development of the human society is naturally connected with the process of urbanization. This study is focused on the issue of development of urbanization and its impact on flood wave formation in catchment. The effect of urbanization on the flood wave formation in catchment is quantified by using a hydrological model. In general, hydrological model describes physical processes in the catchment area. These processes are called rainfall – runoff processes and they include processes from falling of the causal precipitation, through the formation of the surface runoff to the transformation of flood wave in the channel flow. In this study, a hydrological model of Botič catchment is created in HEC – HMS 3.5. During the last 50 years there was a significant growth of urbanization of urban and suburban areas located in the Botič catchment. The study quantifies changes in the flood wave characteristics.
