The paper is focused on the Latin Hypercube Sampling method (LHS) which can be successfully utilised for description of the variability of the soils and rock in the geotechnical design. There is a brief description of the input parameters as random quantities after the short introduction. In the following part the LHS ? mean method is described in detail with the focus on methods for statistical dependence. The main part of the paper is focused on the realised application of LHS in the analysis on several tunnels constructed in the Czech Republic
