Original language description
In this paper the analysis of road traffic development in Prague with using GIS technologies is carried out. The author pays attention to the relationship between the road traffic development and changes of urban classes. One of the biggest challenges ofmodern cities is maintaining spatial development and growth with support of ecological safety. Since the urbanization processes mostly affect natural areas like green spaces, forest, agricultural land etc. In this context it is also important to assessthe environmental impacts of road traffic development. Using Prague land use plans and data of the Czech Statistical Office, the author analyzes the expansion of road traffic as well as emission of harmful substances into the atmosphere from transport. The software ArcGIS 10.2 was used for the analysis.
