  • Original language description

The timber-concrete composite (TCC) offers many advantages for the bridge construction. But basically, it is not used for bridge construction in the Czech Republic at all. In recent years, the technology of timber-concrete bridges has successfully developed in foreign countries. TCC is applied mostly for the pedestrian and road bridges. By combining wood and concrete slender, aesthetic and durable constructions can be achieved. Based on the experience with their application it was proved that the composite timber-concrete bridges within the range of span about 40 meters may be interesting as an economically competitive alternative to the commonly used reinforced concrete and steel structures.
