3D modeling of a vanished settlement in the northwest Sudetenland
Original language description
The settlement in the Czech ? German borderland in North-West Bohemia (the Czech Republic) was affected by the political situation after World War II. Most of the German speaking inhabitants were deported to Germany and the region (especially the Ore Mountains) has not been repopulated since WWII. The aim of this paper is to present the methods for identifying, modelling and visualizing an abandoned/vanished settlement using geoinformatics methods ? old maps analyses, LIDAR and UAV surveys and old-photos based 3D modelling. All of these methods offer tools to preserve the current state of the (almost) vanished settlement and to visualize the settlement that has almost disappeared. All of these outputs are accessible in the internet environment and arevery important for preserving the culture heritage of this region.
