    Today, the former thermal power station Nordkraft (Aalborg, northern Denmark) supplied electricity for this region from the beginning of the 20th century. Today, in the same region, probably even larger, the cultural energy is spreading because the powerplant was transformed into a cultural lighthouse in Northern Denmark. Firstly, the article deals with the sprawl and rebuilding from the time the power plant was still functioning, as the construction of oil tankers and the actual construction of boilers, chimneys and other industrial spaces. Secondly, I am analysing the process of transformation into a cultural centre (Lighthouse) and its interaction with the harbour and the central part of the waterfront. I am focusing on the role of the city as themain investor, bearing the risks of the investment on its shoulders. As regards the former power station building itself, I am trying to focus on architectural quality of conversion, such as the renovation of facades, architectural render
