    Influence of Metakaolin Additive and Basalt Fibers on the Mechanical Properties of Fire Resistant Composites

    The aim of the experimental program was the development of a high temperature resistant composite material, which could be used for manufacturing of components resistant to high temperatures, including the retention of mechanical properties. This work also shows the effect of amount of metakaolin in composite and summarizes the results focused on the investigating of mechanical properties of composites based on aluminous cement with the addition of basalt fibres. Frequently used silicate composites based on Portland cement and silica aggregates are not able to resist the effects of high temperatures [1], therefore the heat-resistant mixtures in this experiment, includes only components that are able to resist the effects of high-temperatures. For high-temperature composites was therefore used aluminous cement Secar (R) 71 in combination with crushed basalt aggregates of fraction 0/4 and 2/5 mm.
