Full-scale test and numerical simulation of precast steel fibre reinforced concrete beams
Original language description
Precast concrete beams are mostly utilized as a main load bearing member for composite deck beam bridges with a simple span to 30 m and similar medium-span structures. The advantage of prefabricated construction technology of beams for small span deck beam bridges is precise manufacturing technology, quick installation, savings of scaffolding and formwork. Besides, the amount of labour with formwork, reinforcement and concrete including work with scaffolding on site is also reduced at a minimum. This article describes the investigation of precast beams of steel fibre reinforced concrete (SFRC) applicable to a bridge with simple spans from 12 m to 15 m. The scope of work includes monitoring and evaluating the structural behaviour of three types of prestressed SFRC beams which are supposed to be a part of a bridge with a composite deck. In case of the experimental tests, a cast-in-situ concrete deck of plain concrete simulating a top composite deck was cast on the top of the beams. The b
