Thermally insulating single-layer ceramic building envelopes: a prospective way to overall energy savings
Original language description
The energy performance of a family house made of different types of single-layer brick masonry is analyzed. Various types of bricks containing thermally insulating waste materials are taken into account, in order to assess the influence of utilizing waste products on the overall energy savings. The calculations are performed using Design Builder?s Energy Plus built-in module with pre-calculated values according to the thermal standards contained in the PHPP model. The results show that using waste products such as sawdust or waste polyurethane at the production of single-layer ceramic blocks can lead to an up to 78 % decrease of the heating energy demands, as compared with the solid clay bricks.
