    This paper focuses on physical and mathematical models of fire. There is the description of models of fire and their use in fire engineering. Mathematical models in Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) for a flammable liquid and a wooden crib are introduced. The results of heat release rate obtained by FDS are compared with a hand calculation.
