Surface and shallow subsurface runoff connectivity in a cultivated catchment
Original language description
Based on a monitoring of the runoff formation on the rural experimental catchment Nucice (Czech Republic) we observed that the subsurface runoff along a shallow compacted subsoil layer prevails during most of the rainfall runoff events. The surface runoff may occur on the discrete and less permeable plots, but is mostly spatially disconnected and does not contribute to the catchment runoff significantly. We are making an attempt to build a conceptual model of the water routing at the catchment startingfrom the infiltration, accumulation at the plow pan to the lateral outflow. Due to mechanized agrotechnical operations the divide between the tilled soil and untreated subsoil is rather homogeneous. But there are features, such as wheel tracks, till drainage shafts or local depressions, which redirect the water flow pathways or allow water to percolate into deeper horizon. To map the compacted layer position we utilize electrical resistance tomography in combination with penetration resi
