Failures of Residential Buildings from Fire Point of View

  • Original language description

According to Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic, fires in apartment buildings are the most frequent fatal tragedies. Fire safety should be always born in mind and should not be side-lined even in times of sustainable building and preference of nature-friendly, renewable, and low-energy materials. Fire could, among other damages, ruin whole effort for efficient building. However, in all stages of the building life cycle problems and faults may be (and very likely are) found in design, realisation, and use stages. In this article, some of the main fire safety breaches that can be very often seen in apartment buildings are presented.
