Sound Insulation of Energy Efficient Wood-Based Façade Panels
Original language description
Sustainable acoustics finds a balance between the adequate protection of people against noise and the optimized material consumption in building structures. The dominant noise source for building envelopes is a road traffic noise, especially in the city centers and suburban areas. We have a long-term experience with the airborne sound insulation of traditional heavyweight masonry walls, but still have a lot of questions about the use of multilayered lightweight structures. This paper shows the most important differences in the acoustic behavior of these two types of building elements and gives a brief overview of the basic principles for the acoustic design of wood-based facades. All this is also illustrated on the measurement results of the laboratory sound reduction index of the new ENVILOP facade panels.
