Czech city centers have due to their historical developments much more attractive public spaces than their peripheries. In most cases, the centers of these cities with a medieval urban structure are under heritage protection conservation programs. The question is whether this fact affects the occurrence of the phenomenon of graffiti. The article describes the research on the relationship between the presence of graffiti and the quality of public spaces and its methodology. The quality of the public space of ten Czech cities is expertly evaluated and the results are compared to the frequency of graffiti. The research surveys were conducted in the historic centers of ten Czech cities in Central Bohemia during 2015.
