Original language description
The aim of the project was to perform laboratory tests consisting of a compression test and a bending test which were done with railway sleepers made of recycled plastics. The both test were based on static as well as dynamic loading. The compression test was done using a special geometric ballast plate and a flat plate. The outcome of the compression test was to evaluate stiffness of a plastic sleeper and bedding modulus. The four-point bending test was done with bridge sleepers which were loaded until their failure. The outcome of the bending test was to evaluate the ultimate point of elastic deformation and ultimate strength of bridge sleepers.
