Original language description
A substantial part of running tunnels on Prague Metro Line “A” was driven using a pair of modern Earth Pressure Balance Shield. The EPBS excavation passed under two significant complexes of existing building. One of them was a group of five pairs of panel high-rise buildings in Červený Vrch. The monitoring of deformations of these buidings affected by the settlement through developing above the two running tunnels is described in this paper. Driving the tunnels using an EPBS proved the significant ability of this technology to reduce deformations by tunnelling operations even older surface buildings in difficult geotechnical conditions.
