The paper is focused on the reinforcement of masonry vaulted structures applying prestress. Prestressing in longitudinal direction represents one of the suitable ways how to eliminate the causes of vault defects. The paper acquaints with one of the possible types of prestressing tendon arrangement with reference to specific features like technology equipment and changes in prestress. The main part of article is dedicated to the structural analysis of segment vaults with a focus on the effect of prestressing. Optimization of chosen parts of the structure is presented in this paper.
