The Municipal Noise Absorbing Screen in Praha Modřany
Original language description
The article deals with the acoustic verification of a new noise absorbing element, called the Municipal Noise Absorbing Screen (MNAS). MNAS is an acoustic element made of bound recycled rubber, developed through the cooperation of the Department of Railway Structures, Faculty of Civil Engineering, CTU in Prague and the Montstav CZ s.r.o. Company, based in Dolní Rychnov. The specific feature of this element is its size – its height of only 300 mm above the top of rail makes it suitable particularly for built-up urban environments. MNAS serves to attenuate the noise emitted by railway traffic arising mainly at the wheel-rail contact. The article describes the major limiting conditions for the installation, shape and layout of the Municipal Noise Absorbing Screen. The text presents the sound measurement campaign whose output is the assessment of the effectiveness of MNAS mounted in a specific section of a tram track in Praha Modřany.
